Browse verified walking tours from local agencies along the Lycian Way
The Lycian Way runs 540 km along Turkey's south-west coast, from Fethiye to Antalya, through ancient Lycian sites, pine forests, and Mediterranean beaches. Walking the full trail takes 25–30 days; most visitors hike a section of 4–14 days with a guide handling logistics, accommodation, and transfers. Below you'll find tours from licensed local agencies — sortable by length, difficulty, and price.
Highlights treks (4–7 days) cover the most photogenic coastal sections — typically Fethiye to Patara or Patara to Demre, with rest days at Kaş or Çıralı. Best for first-time visitors and travellers short on time.
Section walks (8–14 days) let you complete a major chunk of the trail — for example, the entire western coast from Fethiye through to Demre, or the rugged eastern mountains from Olympos to Antalya. A good fit for hikers who've done multi-day routes elsewhere.
Full thru-hikes (25–30 days) walk the entire 540 km route end to end. Demanding both physically and logistically — most agencies run these only in spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) when conditions are ideal.
Self-guided support packages let independent walkers carry less and worry less: pre-booked accommodation, daily luggage transfers, GPX tracks, and 24/7 emergency contact, without a guide walking alongside.

Spring (mid-March to mid-May) and autumn (mid-September to mid-November) are the prime seasons. October and April offer the most reliable weather: mild temperatures, clear skies, wildflowers in spring or olive harvest in autumn, and far fewer hikers. Summer is too hot for comfortable walking on most coastal stages — daytime temperatures regularly exceed 35°C and water sources dry up. Winter can be walked but coastal rain and mountain snow make the experience unpredictable.
For Highlights treks and Weekend Escapes, a reasonable level of fitness is sufficient — if you can walk 5–6 hours on uneven ground with rest stops, you'll cope. The Full Trail demands much more: 25+ consecutive days of 4–9 hour walks with cumulative elevation gain of 20,000 m+. Most operators recommend training walks of 15+ km on hilly terrain in the months before departure.
Typically: an English-speaking licensed guide, accommodation (pensions, guesthouses or boutique hotels depending on tier), daily luggage transfers between stages, breakfasts, most dinners, transport to and from the trailheads, and group emergency support. Excluded: international flights, lunches on the trail, drinks, travel insurance (mandatory), and personal hiking gear. Always check each tour listing for the specific inclusions.
No — most guided tours include daily luggage transfers, so you only carry a daypack with water, snacks, sun protection, a rain jacket, and personal essentials. Your main bag is moved by van between accommodation each evening. This is the standard "inn-to-inn" model used on European long-distance trails. Self-supported hikers carrying everything are a minority on the Lycian Way.
Yes — the trail is one of Turkey's safest long-distance routes, including for solo women. Most stages pass through populated coastal areas, villages with reliable water and food, and well-marked sections. Group tours are popular for first-timers who want company. For solo hikers, our app provides daily check-in, GPS tracking, and emergency contact alerts — used by both group and independent walkers.

Bookings are made directly with the licensed agency operating the tour — usually a 15% deposit by card via secure Stripe checkout, with the remaining balance due 30 days before departure. Deposits are non-refundable but can be transferred to alternative dates with at least 60 days' notice. Each agency's specific terms appear on its tour page.
Most visitors (UK, EU, US, Australia, etc.) get an e-visa online from evisa.gov.tr — typically valid 90 days within a 180-day period. Some nationalities can enter visa-free; others need a consular visa. Check your country's specific requirements at least 4 weeks before travel.
